Time really flies, whether you’re having fun or not. I knew that it had been a while since I’ve written here. It wasn’t until recently that I realized it had been over a year since I had posted. There are a couple of reasons why I stopped writing, and a couple of reasons why I am starting back up.
About a year ago a lot of this started changing. At the time I had been unemployed for a while but had just started a new job that was in a radically different field than I had been pursuing. I spent some time wrestling with a question. Was this just temporary, or is it time to reassess goals and more forward in a new direction? Being in the middle of a decision of some consequence it felt better to move through it in private and reflect later with some perspective.
I was also changing a lot of my fitness goals and pursuits. We were starting to run much more, training for a marathon and at least two ultra-marathons this year. Crossfit, while it deserves a lot of credit for my current state of health, was starting to conflict with running and training schedules instead of helping to achieve those goals. Coming to a decision to quit Crossfit may seem trivial or even silly to some, was difficult for me. Especially since it was such a big part of this blog.
Why am I starting to write again? First and foremost because I enjoy writing about what is going on in my life. It seemed like waiting for things to become more stable was pointless, when are things stable? The whole idea of this blog was to share part of my life, including the mistakes and hard times. Sometimes you need some duct tape to hold things together.
